*Special Notice: World of Discovery Preschool Closing*
With a heavy heart, we announce that the World of Discovery Preschool will be closing permanently, the last day of school June 7, 2024.
We have offered high quality and nurturing care for over 2 decades and this decision was made with great care. Certainly, the pandemic that began nearly 4 years ago greatly impacted the childcare industry and changed the needs of our families, working community, and more. World of Discovery has weathered the complexities of post-pandemic operation, though has continued to experience declining enrollment as many other childcare centers have. Additionally, all school districts in California have been required by state law to expand their Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms until all 4-year-olds will be eligible by 2025. This impact has been felt deeply, essentially altering our original model of a 3-year preschool, to what is currently a 2-year program, and what is slated to become predominantly a 1-year program nearly 18 months from now.
We thank you for your dedication to World of Discovery Preschool, a beloved part of LGS Recreation programming. We know that finding quality care can be difficult and we hope to help you in this process. While WOD will close, we will continue to have program options available to support care needs, learning and growth, connection to community, and more. Please allow us to present the following solutions for continued summer and school year enrichment and care. Clubhouse Catpaws Preschool Camps
We'll exercise our imaginations through interactive songs, games, food projects, and colorful arts and crafts. Theme-related activities each week include story time, music and movement, arts & crafts, simple science, outdoor play, and exploration.
*You may even see some of our beloved WOD subs/staff and our current Preschool Supervisor, Ms. Jenna, at these programs!

- Weekly themed camp opportunities at Van Meter Elementary School
- M-F throughout summer from 8:30am-12:30pm, ages 3-5 (must be potty trained)
- Clubhouse aftercare available from 12:30pm-4:00pm.

Summer Camps are also available for preschool age in the areas of dance, science, Tee ball, multi-sport, soccer, and more throughout summer.
Classes include Music Together, dance, cheer, gymnastics, martial arts, basketball, soccer, Tee ball, aquatics, and more.
Recreational Preschool – Coming Fall 2024
- A half-day, play based program for preschool children ages 3-5 years (earlier if potty trained) the Joan Pisani Community Center in Saratoga.
- Part-time, license exempt preschool. Sept-May
- Tentative schedule – 8:30am-12:30am, T/Th (subject to change, M/W/F based on interest)
