Youth Golf Coach

The Golf Coach is responsible for various aspects of the program, including assisting with the organization of the program, such as recruiting, scheduling, training, conducting classes, clinics, and camps as well as motivating and coaching players in game strategies and techniques. In this role the Coach will be working with athletes with a varying skill levels, first priority is to instill the fundamentals of the game.

 

 

 

Employment Type:   Seasonal

Coaches are needed for the following schedules:

Beginning late January

Thursdays, 4pm-6pm

Saturdays 10am-12pm

Sundays, 3pm-5pm

 

 

 

Pay Rate: $35.00/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Includes the following but no limited to:

      • Manages classes, clinics, practices and camps to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
      • Uses a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of players.
      • Assists with the planning of, and implements the program’s instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall development of players.
      • Works with other coaches and designated recreation staff toward a common goal.
      • Establishes performance criteria to evaluate players athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
      • Conferences with parents/guardians as necessary regarding performance of their child.
      • Determines program strategy based on the participants capabilities.
      • Encourages sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic activity at all times.
      • Takes all necessary precautions to protect players and facilities, including protecting students from hazing/bullying.
      • Maintains and secures all equipment and supplies.
      • Organizes seasonal schedule for upcoming seasons with Lead Coach, and designated recreation sports staff.
      • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
      • Represents the LGS Recreation in a professional manner.
      • Maintains nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
      • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
      • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coach supervises the assistant coaches and participants.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of two years coaching experience (Middle/High School experience preferred).

Experience playing sport preferred.

 

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

 

 

 

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Fingerprint and TB clearance are a condition of employment and must be obtained prior to start date.   Must have current certificates in CPR, First Aid, NFHS Coaching, Cardiac Arrest, and Concussion.  Mandatory Trainings must be completed within 10 days of hire.

 

 

 

 

Conditions of Employment

Upon offer of a position, LGS Recreation staff must obtain fingerprint and TB clearances. Any mandatory trainings required for the position must be completed within 15 days of employment.

This is a short-term, seasonal assignment.
