Lifeguard – School Year and Seasonal
Lifeguards under the supervision of Head guards and Aquatic Coordinator perform the following duties:
Provide for the safety of patrons in and around the pool at all times
Provide safe and thorough instruction to all levels of students enrolled in the LGS Recreation swim lesson program.
Provide a friendly environment at the pool facility
Ensure overall cleanliness of the facility
Perform a variety of clerical tasks
Other related duties as assigned

- Must possess valid lifeguard certification. (Will provide training upon hire)
Work Year : Part-Time, Extra-Duty, Seasonal
Salary : $18.20 / Hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Know and enforce the pool rules consistently and fairly.
- Assist patrons with problems or concerns in a prompt and professional manner.
- Immediately inform the Head Lifeguard on duty of any problems with patrons or staff that
cannot be immediately resolved. - Assist with accidents and injuries as directed and complete proper incident and accident
reports in detail. - Practice and maintain all certification skills and be able to pass skill tests at any time during the
season. - Provide quality instruction and positive and continual feedback to students.
- Communicate with swim lesson parents (at least once during session).
- Evaluate swim lesson participants and complete all cards before the start of class on the last
day of the session. - Ensure a professional appearance of the facility and themselves at all times. This includes
keeping the pool area, guard office, and locker rooms clean and stocked. - Know the emergency action plan, how to activate it, and their role in it.
- Attend all in‐service trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MUST have current certificates in CPR for the professional rescuer, First Aid for the professional
rescuer, and Lifeguard Training. Must possess strong swimming skills. Ability to work positively with parents and children in a community aquatics setting.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a current and valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aide and CPR/AED for
the Professional Rescuer Certification. - Swim instructors must possess a current Water Safety Instructor certification.
- All employees are required to obtain TB and fingerprint clearance upon hire.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; run;

head and use arms; talk and hear. - Must be able to swim at least 300 yards.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds or more. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the
ability to adjust focus.

- Clubhouses, recreation and other agency facilities may be noisy with very dynamic movement.
- Pool Employees may experience wet and slippery surfaces.
- Individual is frequently exposed to natural weather conditions that may vary from extreme sun
to cold, wet rainy and windy conditions.
